“Tell me and I will forget, Teach me and I will remember, Involve me and I will learn.”
A dream come true
It is in this motto that the profound meaning of the realisation of Michele Guerra's dream is encapsulated. A dream that for over fifty years he pursued with an almost feverish search, both in Italy and abroad, for thousands of artefacts — many of them unique in the world — that have written the history of these glorious Corps dedicated to firefighting and first aid.
The birth of the Museum
“The idea originates back in 1968, during the famous Hot Autumn, when as a young man I was still working on the assembly line at Fiat Mirafiori in Turin...”
Driven by the emotional reaction to tragic episodes witnessed in the factory, Michele Guerra founded Euroambiente in the 1980s. On 1 July 2017, he completed this incredible "Temple of safety", inaugurating the Cittadella della Sicurezza, which houses the headquarters of Euroambiente and the Historic Museum.
A heritage to Pass On
Entering the Museum is a bit like rediscovering the history of Italy itself from an unprecedented perspective. Over 3,000 pieces perfectly preserved tell the story of how the rescue service once operated: from the emergency call to the return to the firehouse.
Every space has been meticulously designed by Michele Guerra and rebuilt by master carpenter Antonio Berardinetti.
